Amitabh Bachchan Turns 84 and Greets Fans Outside Jalsa During His Iconic Sunday Darshan

Amitabh Bachchan marked his 84th birthday on October 11, 2026, by continuing one of his most cherished traditions, greeting fans gathered outside his Mumbai residence, Jalsa. The Bollywood megastar stepped out for his much-loved Sunday Darshan, turning the occasion into a double celebration for admirers who had assembled to catch a glimpse of their favourite star. For generations of fans, the ritual has become more than a celebrity appearance; it is a special opportunity to express their affection for the legendary actor, who continues to acknowledge the crowds that gather outside his home. This year, the tradition carried additional significance as his birthday coincided with the weekly meeting.

The atmosphere outside Jalsa was festive, with admirers arriving from different parts of the country and beyond to celebrate the milestone. Fans carried banners, placards and birthday messages, while some paid tribute to Bachchan by recreating the looks of his memorable film characters. Among the references was his iconic appearance from the 1983 film Coolie, a reminder of the extraordinary cinematic legacy he has built over several decades. The crowd's enthusiasm reflected the enduring connection between the actor and his audience, with the birthday celebration becoming an occasion for fans to revisit their favourite memories of his films and performances.

As the evening approached, Bachchan appeared on an elevated platform outside his residence, which was adorned with a large red floral garland. Dressed in a dark maroon kurta and a richly detailed brown Kashmiri Kani pashmina shawl draped over his shoulder, the veteran star kept his appearance elegant and traditional. He stepped out barefoot, following his familiar practice, and greeted the waiting crowd with folded hands and his trademark wave. The simple gesture was met with excitement from fans, many of whom had waited for hours for the opportunity to see him in person on his special day.

Sunday Darshan has become a distinctive part of Bachchan's relationship with his admirers. While the actor's career has taken him across generations of Indian cinema, the weekly tradition offers a direct and personal connection with the people who have supported him throughout his journey. The sight of him acknowledging the crowd, even briefly, remains a memorable moment for fans. On his 84th birthday, the gathering took on the atmosphere of a public celebration, with the actor's appearance providing the highlight of the day for those assembled outside Jalsa.

Earlier in the day, Bachchan also shared a personal blog post expressing gratitude for the affection and thoughtful gestures he received on his birthday. His message reflected appreciation for the warmth and goodwill shown by people celebrating the occasion. Over the years, the actor has often acknowledged the dedication of his fans, and his birthday has become an annual moment for admirers to express their admiration through messages, photographs, gifts and gatherings outside his home. The response this year once again demonstrated the affection that surrounds the veteran star.

With a career spanning decades, Amitabh Bachchan remains one of the most recognisable figures in Indian cinema. From his iconic performances in films such as Zanjeer and Deewaar to his continued presence in movies and television, he has maintained a remarkable connection with audiences across generations. His birthday Sunday Darshan brought together two enduring elements of his public life: his cinematic legacy and his personal tradition of acknowledging the fans who have stood by him.
